WebThe ultrasound finding is consistent with gallstones or cholelithiasis. To diagnose a stone, an echogenic focus with posterior shadowing must be present. If you are not able to elicit the posterior shadowing, just angle the probe or change position a little bit. A stone should cast a shadow, (but a polyp will not).
